Mercer Island Home Remodel Brings Our Clients Vision to Life

J & M Remodel worked with our clients’ Seattle-based architectural firm Atelier Drome to bring our clients’ vision for their Mercer Island home to life. The large, mid-century home, built in 1957, was a former investment property that had not been updated since then, and needed a great deal of work. J & M Remodel met with the architects and clients to fine tune the design and budget for a several months before settling on the final design implementation.

The home’s original compartmentalized layout was typical of 1950s-era construction. J & M Remodel assigned Matt Gallwey as project manager for this extensive home remodel. Matt and his team began by opening the home’s layout. In fact, the J & M Remodel team almost gutted the three-thousand square foot home. Extensive work on the exterior began as well. All the home’s mechanical systems were updated or replaced, including installation of a Ductless Mini Split system throughout.

A few design elements that were updated include painting the paneling on the ceiling of the great room and adding a beam with conduit to accommodate a large fan and can lighting.

The remodeled kitchen is aesthetically clean, with minimalistic finishes, after existing walls were removed to incorporate the entire living area into one great room.

The new master suite layout includes a large closet, and the en suite bath features a walk-in shower and a separate water closet.

Reconfiguring the basement of the home created a more open flow and includes an interior area for a quaint in-home office.

Along with remodeling the kitchen, three bathrooms, and reconfiguring the basement, the J & M Remodel team updated the interior of the home, including new flooring, paint, and millwork throughout. The J & M Remodel team replaced all interior doors, stairs, and banisters as well.

The extensive exterior work on the home includes new siding and paint, new windows, new roof and gutters, concrete work, and a new garage and front doors.

This mid-century home was completely transformed into a beautiful, functional home for our clients. The customizations and value-add that resulted from this complete home remodel confirms that our clients’ decision to renovate the home was the best choice to fit their lifestyle.
