Seattle Bathroom Remodel Enlarges the Bath and Delights Our Customer
Our customer contacted J & M Remodel to discuss some great ideas about enlarging their main floor bathroom by taking some square footage from an adjacent bedroom closet. We determined that this could be done, and that the expansion would made a huge difference in the aesthetics and functionality of the bath.
After opening the wall to use the available closet space, we relocated the tub and shower to accommodate a larger vanity. The new vanity provided a dramatic increase in storage space than the original pedestal sink.
Our team added Wainscoting that extends halfway up the wall, offering a rich, dramatic effect. Encaustic-look art porcelain tiles stand out as the showpiece of this space, and go well with the classic subway surround. A large niche with glass shelving offers generous space for shower products, and the directional change of the tile is a great touch.
Here's a portion of the five-star review that our customer left about the project on our Google listing. You can access our reviews on Google and other sites on our Reviews page:
“We had the very best bathroom remodel experience with J & M [Remodel]. We received a handful of bids, with theirs right in the middle as far as price, but way above the rest as far as detail and professionalism. From beginning to end, this was painless. The final invoice was very close to the original bid, and the job was finished in exactly the amount of time promised.”
Update in May, 2019: J & M Remodel's work on this project won the coveted REX award for bathroom remodel projects in our entry category! There are more details on our Reviews page.

Burien Bathroom Remodel Projects Feature a Steam Shower and Beautiful Tile
Each of these two bathroom remodel projects feature unique upgrades and special custom touches by J & M Redmodel. In the case of the existing standard size and layout bathroom, our client wanted to eliminate the bathtub and add a spacious walk-in shower. As you’ll see in the photos below, the custom vanities and granite countertops blend seamlessly with the 12 x 24 floor tiles. The shower features two vertical glass mosaic accent strips, bringing additional visual interest to the room. The large mirror spanning the length of the vanity is backlit with LED lighting. The high-end Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures ensure that this bathroom will stand the test of time.
For the second bathroom, the client wanted to incorporate a steam shower. However, the existing bathroom had limited square footage for the job. We expanded the bathroom footprint to accommodate the steam shower by moving a wall and by making use of some available space previously used for storage. The ThermaSol steam unit we installed for this project is the preferred steam generator used by J & M Remodel. The fold-down teak bench was hand crafted by J & M Remodel to fit the available space perfectly. The floor tile selected by our client is unlike any we had previously seen, and turned out great. Both bathroom remodel projects feature LED backlit mirrors.
There's a recent update to this project! Justin Schuder, co-owner of J & M Remodel, was interviewed about our use of a Thermasol Steam Generator for this project by Pro Remodeler magazine in their November 2018 issue. Burien Kitchen Remodel with Stunning Statement Tile
As you can see from the before pictures in the gallery below, prior to the completion of the kitchen remodel project, the original kitchen was truly dated. Our client wanted an updated look that was not too modern while retaining warmth.
The glass tile that you'll see in the after pictures of this kitchen remodel project is truly a show stopper. The kitchen features quartz countertops with blue specks that are brought out by the tile accent wall. The pendant lights continue the blue theme as well. The open wood shelving also features matching blue ground-up glass filler.
The built-in entertainment shelves feature a custom birch wood countertop and plenty of storage. The cabinets used in both the kitchen and entertainment area feature soft-close hinges and drawers with dovetail joints.
Our customer was pleased by the results. Here is a portion of the review on Houzz:
“I was pleasantly surprised at how well the remodel went over all. Brandon was a champ at the house every day. Cleaned up so we could live with the mess each night. He was helpful with design ideas and his carpentry skills are awesome (see shelves!) Justin and Mandy kept us on task with the needed supplies and directed me what to get next. It turned out great. I would use them again!”
